Oklahoma State Treasurer Todd Russ Brings Financial Literacy Tour to Granite Schools

Treasurer Russ and Supt. Berry

The Oklahoma State Treasurer’s Office is excited to announce its latest stop on the Financial Literacy Tour, where Treasurer Russ visited Granite High School to present to sophomores, juniors, and seniors about planning for their future education.

Working closely with Granite Schools Superintendent Mrs. Missy Berry, the Treasurer’s Office provided valuable insights into financial planning for higher education and explained the benefits of the OK529 program, Oklahoma’s 529 College Savings Plan. The program, administered by the State Treasurer’s Office, is designed to help Oklahoma families save for college tuition and other eligible educational expenses.

“As we look to the future of Oklahoma, it’s essential that we equip students with the tools they need to plan for their education and financial well-being,” said Treasurer Russ. “The OK529 program is an excellent way for families to begin saving for their children’s education while taking advantage of significant tax benefits and financial growth opportunities.”

The session included an interactive presentation on budgeting, saving for college, and how the OK529 program works. Students were encouraged to start thinking about their education goals and how smart financial planning can help make those goals a reality.

“Mrs. Berry and the staff at Granite High School have been wonderful partners in helping bring this important conversation to the students,” added Treasurer Russ. “We are thrilled to continue this initiative across Oklahoma and help more students get on the path to being financially literate with educational success.”

The Financial Literacy Tour is part of the Treasurer’s ongoing efforts to engage with communities and schools throughout Oklahoma, fostering an understanding of financial planning and responsible saving for both education and the future.
