Winter Wheat Harvest Behind Schedule, National Corn Condition Slips in Latest Crop Progress

US Crop Progress for June 23, 2025

According to the latest US Crop Progress report:

Winter Wheat headed reached 96 percent, equal to the five-year average. Winter wheat harvested reached 19 percent, down 9 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 19 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 52 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair, and 19 percent poor to very poor.

Corn reached 97 percent emerged, up 1 percentage point from a year ago and down 1 point from the five-year average. Corn conditions rated 70 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair, and 6 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair, and 5 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted reached 96 percent, same as a year ago, but down 1 point from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 90 percent, up 1 point from last year and same as the five-year average. Soybean conditions rated 66 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair, and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions were the same rated 66 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair, and 7 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 92 percent, down 1 percentage point from a year ago and 3 points from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 26 percent, down 3 points from last year and the same as the 5 year average. Cotton setting bolls reached 5 percent, down 3 points from a year ago and down on from the five-year average. Cotton conditions rated 47 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 20 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 19 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 84 percent, down 5 points from a year ago and 3 points from the five-year average. No sorghum conditions were provided. Conditions were 61% good to excellent, 33% fair, and 6% poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 43 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair, and 29 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 46 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair, and 28 percent poor to very poor.

Oklahoma Crop Progress Report

Winter wheat harvested reached 35 percent, down 58 percentage points from a year ago and 38 points from the five-year average. Conditions were rated 52 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair, and 13 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 62 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair, and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 82 percent, down 6 percentage points from last year and down 4 from the five-year average. Cotton conditions rated 67 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 3 percent poor. Last week’s conditions rated 76 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair, and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 52 percent, down 37 points from a year ago and down 20 points from the five-year average. Conditions were rated 69% good to excellent, 26% fair, and 6% poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 77 percent good to excellent, 18 percent fair, and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 69 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair, and 7 percent poor to very poor.

In Kansas:

Winter wheat  harvested has reached 20 percent, down 29 points from a year ago, and 11 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 23 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair, and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Corn emerged reached 95 percent, down 2 points from a year ago, and 1 points from the five-year average. Corn conditions rated 65 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair, and 6 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 64 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair, and 5 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted reached 86 percent, down 5 percentage points from a year ago and from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 76 percent, down 5 points from a year ago and from the five-year average. Soybean conditions rated 64 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 6 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 7 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 95 percent, down 1 percentage point from a year ago and 1 point from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 2 percent, down 7 points from the previous year and 8 points from the five-year average. Cotton conditions rated 32 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair, and 30 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair, and 21 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 79 percent, down 5 points from a year ago and 4 points from the five-year average. Conditions were rated 59% good to excellent, 37% fair and 4% poor to very poor.

Pasture and Range conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair, and 11 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair, and 11 percent poor to very poor.

In Texas:

Winter wheat harvested reached 70 percent, down 2 points from a year ago and down 3 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair, and 27 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions were rated as follows: 37 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 30 percent poor to very poor.

Corn emerged reached 98 percent, down 1 from a year ago, and equal to the previous year and to the five-year average. Corn conditions rated 52 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair, and 10 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 62 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair, and 7 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 91 percent, equal to last year and down 3 percentage points from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 26 percent, down 1 from last year and down two from the five-year average. Cotton setting bolls reached 8 points, down 3 points from last year and down one from the five-year average. Cotton conditions rated 35 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair, and 28 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 19 percent poor to very poor.
