On this Ag Perspectives Podcast- Oklahoma Farm Report’s Ron Hays talks about a variety of issues with the senior member of the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation- Frank Lucas. Lucas has served as the Chair of the House Ag Committee as well as the Chair of the Science Committee in the US House.
He is the Senior member in the House Ag Committee here in 2025- and is currently serving as the Subcommittee Chair for Conservation.
Ron brings up several topics, including US House H.R. 1713 that adds the Secretary of Agriculture as a permanent member on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), the interagency committee charged with reviewing the national security implications of foreign investments in the economy. The bill also requires CFIUS to consider referrals from USDA for reportable agricultural land transactions. Lucas is the principal author of the measure, which just passed through the US House.
They also talked about the “farm” portions of the Big Beautiful Bill and Lucas’ perspective on how things are unfolding in the Senate for the measure.
They also chatted about the worries about New World Screwworm and the Congressman’s thoughts on how Congress and the President are getting along so far here in 2025.
