Senator Mullin Visits Oklahoma Cadets at West Point

On Friday, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) visited the United States Military Academy at West Point where he met with Superintendent Lieutenant General Steven Gilland, toured various facilities, ate lunch with Oklahoma Cadets, and spoke to class SS465 – Terrorism: New Challenges.

Each year, Senator Mullin has the privilege of nominating Oklahoma candidates for appointments to four of the five U.S. military academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

“The Cadets at West Point are the future of this nation and it was an honor to spend the day with them on campus. They will face monumental challenges in the ever-changing national security landscape,” said Senator Mullin. “But I am confident that the elite education and training they receive at West Point will more than prepare them to tackle those challenges head on. I am so proud of our West Point Cadets and am inspired by their selfless dedication to the United States of America.”
