Senator James Lankford (R-OK) released a holiday message today, wishing his constituents a Happy Thanksgiving and encouraging them to take time for rest and gratitude amidst the holiday cheer. The message, delivered in a video greeting, emphasized the importance of pausing to appreciate the blessings shared as a nation, a state, and within family and community.
“Happy Thanksgiving,” the Senator began, “I hope you enjoy time together with family and that you get time together just to be grateful.”
Lankford acknowledged the American spirit of striving for continuous improvement, noting, “We’re Americans and so we’re always trying to make a more perfect union, and we’re always working to get better.” However, he stressed that times like Thanksgiving are essential for reflection.
“We need times like this to be able to pause, rest, watch a little football, and enjoy time together as a family with gratitude,” he said.
The Senator concluded his brief but heartfelt message by urging everyone to embrace the spirit of thankfulness. “So, I hope you take time to just be grateful,” he stated, wishing his audience a blessed holiday season.
The Thanksgiving holiday, observed annually on the fourth Thursday of November, is traditionally a time for families and friends to gather, share a meal, and give thanks. Senator Lankford’s message aligns with this tradition, highlighting the value of family and community reflection.
