Fellow Oklahoman, At the beginning of the year, when President Trump and Congressional Republicans began the start of our governance, we made several commitments to the American people. So, now, as we approach the end of 2025, I can’t help but reflect on the multitude of promises we have delivered on. For a recap of our accomplishments this year, continue reading below:
Immigration
When it came to our nation’s immigration policies, the previous administration refused to enforce the law, resulting in a raging illegal immigration disaster. Massive surges of illegals, including criminals, gang members, and terrorists, were swarming our border, resulting in jeopardized national security and free reign for cartels to push deadly fentanyl into every community throughout the United States. Now, just a year later, we have seen a historic turn around. Illegal “getaways” at the border are down by 95 percent and migrant crossings are down by 99.99 percent. “Catch and Release” has been reversed and “Remain in Mexico” has been re-established. Congress passed the Laken Riley Act in early January and President Trump immediately signed it into law. On top of that, the One Big Beautiful Bill delivered resources to complete the border wall and hire more Border Patrol agents. The Republican crackdown on illegal immigration began on day one. As a result, our border is now protected, the American people are safer, and we are sending a strong message to the world: the United States of America is strong and secure.
National Security
This past year has proven that national security is a priority again. First, through the One Big Beautiful Bill, we made generational investments in America’s defense with nearly $150 billion in funding for the Pentagon – all of which are being used to further President Trump’s goal of peace through strength, not woke, DEI initiatives. The legislation also included money for our brave and selfless servicemembers’ quality of life, including housing, health care, and special pay. Additionally, the Trump Administration has made amazing progress in the Middle East. First, in June, President Trump made the decision to strike Iran in order to prevent a lethal weapon and war. This was an important and necessary step to neutralize a direct nuclear threat to regional and world peace and stability. In the face of danger, the United States must meet it with strength – and that is exactly what President Trump did. We also saw a historic and joyous day for both America and Israel when we watched the Israeli hostages finally be released. The Trump Administration negotiated the release of the hostages, laid out a path forward, and brought the leading powers of the region together at the negotiating table for the first time in decades. It was truly an achievement of historic magnitude and significance. It demonstrated the powerful notion of peace through strength, proving that when the United States has strong leadership, the world is safer. Lastly, I would be remiss not to mention the other work the House has done to restore American military strength. Just last week, we passed the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which authorizes $900.6 billion for our nation’s defense in order to build a ready, capable, and lethal fighting force to deter our adversaries and protect our country. Now, we are working hard to get the Defense Appropriations Bill signed into law early next year. Under Republican leadership, we have made it clear that our men and women in uniform are prepared and will not allow terrorists or our adversaries to win.
Economy
One of the biggest accomplishments of the year has to be making the 2017 Tax Cuts permanent. By doing this, we have provided long lasting tax relief to families, workers, and small businesses. In fact, this policy has protected the average taxpayer – not just the “top one percent” as Democrats love to claim – from a 22% tax hike. On top of that, the One Big Beautiful Bill delivered on President Trump’s campaign promises of not taxing tips, overtime, and interest on some auto loans. Inflation is also low and stable – tracking at 1.9% since we began our governance. The wholesale price of a dozen eggs is down 67%, or $4.39, since inauguration, and is down 74%, or $6.01, from its peak. Nearly 500,000 American jobs have been created and real wages for blue collar workers are up by 1.4% over the last year, which is the second fastest increase for the start of a new term on record. A healthy economy is the key to a prosperous America, and I am proud of the work that has been done so far.
Energy
By ending Biden era energy policies of climate extremism and undue burdens on energy production and use, we have finally unleashed our domestic energy production. Specifically, through the One Big Beautiful Bill, we refilled the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, reinstated quarterly onshore oil and gas lease sales, and reversed electric vehicle mandates. In turn, we have not only lowered energy costs on the ratepayers but also created jobs and protected our nation from threats abroad – because energy security is national security. America is a country rich in energy resources and emerging technology. I know this firsthand, as oil and natural gas production has shaped Oklahoma’s economy since shortly after statehood, and continues to do so today. That being said, I am happy to see the all-of-the-above energy strategy that has been implemented which encourages domestic energy production and reduces our dependency on foreign oil.
Healthcare
Despite the dishonest fearmongering campaign being pushed by the Left, House Republicans have been working to fix the healthcare crisis in this country throughout this entire year. First, through the One Big Beautiful Bill, we strengthened, secured, and sustained Medicaid by reestablishing it as a program that provides vital healthcare to the most vulnerable Americans and stopping the subsidization of illegal immigrants and competent adults who are just choosing not to work. Put simply and clearly: this bill did not cut Medicaid, but instead rooted out waste, fraud, and abuse within the program by establishing a work requirement for able-bodied adults wit no dependents or elderly parents in their care. If you really look at it, this is truly just a common sense policy. Additionally, a reoccurring topic throughout the 119th Congress has been the expiring Covid-era subsidies on Obamacare. However, the underlying issue here is this: the Affordable Care Act is not affordable. President Obama and the Democrats created a program Americans cannot afford, that works for big insurance companies, instead of patients, and that is filled with waste, fraud, and abuse. Therefore, as a result, House Republicans are trying to fix what has been broken. In stark contrast with the Left’s irresponsible proposal to simply just place Covid-era subsidies on top of the subsidies Obamacare already offers, the Republican solution passed through the House offers a more productive and long-term fix to the healthcare crisis. Through 5 critical reforms, our legislation broadens insurance options for employers, workers, and families, which will, in turn, drive down health insurance premium costs by at least 11% starting January 1, 2026. At the end of the day, the American people deserve a health care system that puts them and their pocketbooks first – and Republicans are working to do just that.
More
On top of all that has already been said, there is so much more we accomplished this year. At the FAA, we are modernizing air traffic control systems and addressing the more than 3,000-controller shortage by investing in recruitment, retention, and training. On agriculture, we have made sure to never forget our farmers. In fact, just this month, President Trump announced a $12 billion economic assistance package for American farmers. These dollars will go a long way for the important men and women who work to keep the American people fed. For veterans, we have successfully passed the Fiscal Year 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act through the House. This legislation puts service and strength first by supporting U.S. veterans, their families, and base readiness. It fully funds veterans’ health care and benefits and reflects the promise we owe our heroes. From lowering crime rates to reducing the bureaucracy to solidifying our position as a world leader in AI, it is truly hard to sum up all that President Trump and Republicans have accomplished this year. We really have delivered the result that the American people voted for, and I look forward to continuing the progress in the new year.
