The breed association shows continued on Tuesday with our picture above showing the Red Angus Junior Show in the far ring and the Open Black Hereford show in the near ring. Other breeds that were in the show spotlight on Tuesday included Limousin, Gelvbieh and Highland breeds.
Tuesday was also a day of preparation for the first ever Junior Speech Contest planned by Congress and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. Oklahoma Farm Report talked with Cattlemen’s Congress Vice President of Operations Kass Newell about the effort to offer young people from across Oklahoma and across the rest of the country to have an opportunity to compete at Congress. ODAFF is handling coordination of the contest- and tells us that 252 students have entered for either Wednesday January 7th or Monday January 12th. Students will be coming from 13 states for the first year of the contests with the majority coming from Oklahoma and Texas. The contest is set to begin Wednesday morning at 10 AM.

Besides the three purebred sales listed, Superior Livestock will be holding day two of their annual Bellringer Sale at the Embassy Suites Downtown (Just south of the State Capitol) starting at 8 AM on Wednesday.
