U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 is working with state and local officials to closely monitor the major winter storm expected to impact several states within the Region.
For the most up to date weather information, please monitor local news or visit weather.gov. According to the National Weather Service, a cold front is expected to bring severe cold temperatures to several states through the early part of next week. The winter storm is expected to contain the possibility of freezing rain, sleet, and snow that could create hazardous travel conditions into the weekend and cause impacts to local infrastructure and communities. EPA encourages the public to be aware of potential indoor air dangers during power outages. Generators should always be run outside to avoid exposure to carbon monoxide. Please visit EPA’s website for more information on indoor air quality safety during emergencies.
