Wicked Weather and Rainfall Across the State with more possible

Oklahoma weather can always be interesting, and this past weekend did not disappoint. While we are used to seeing severe weather across the state in the spring and summer months, we are NOT used to seeing November tornadoes!

According to State Climatologist Gary McManus, we saw several tornadoes this weekend, “we’ve already had at LEAST 6 confirmed tornadoes thus far…2 EF3s, 1 EF2, 2 EF1s, and an EF0, and there have undoubtedly been quite a few more that remain uninvestigated by the good folks at NSSL, SPC, and the NWS. The record for tornadoes in November is 12, set back in 1958.”

Tornadoes touched down near Blanchard, Newcastle, and the Harrah Area, causing downed trees, roof damage, and structural damage.

Oklahoma needed the rain for sure, as Wheat planting has been delayed across the state, waiting to see some moisture, and moisture we did see it! Take a look at the latest rainfall map across the state (It’s Interactive so you can click and see where your area ended up)

Today will be the final day of the rainfall, according to McManus, and we could still see severe weather out of the deal, “As per usual, today’s severe weather environment will be evolving, and it is as we speak. Tune to your local NWS Office and favorite media source NOW and stay weather aware.”
