KC Sheperd, Farm Director, is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing partner, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.
Rodenberger and Sheperd discussed the current cattle market situation in Oklahoma City. Rodenberger reported that around 12,000 head of cattle were being brought to town, with a high demand for quality calves.
The market is bringing them to town,” he said. “As high as they are selling, they are going to bring them to town. There are still a lot of people who are short on wheat, so a lot of these cattle are four to six-weight cattle that are long-weaned and good quality.”
Earlier, Rodenberger had predicted that the approaching holiday season would slow things down, but the opposite is true under the current market conditions.
As the Apache Sale Barn approaches its last sale of the year, Rodenberger hesitantly predicts 2,500 – 3,000 head to sell this week.
