
House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, R-Bristow, issued the following response to wildfires in his House district and statewide.
“The devastation across my House district and the state is hard to put into words. My heart breaks for those Oklahomans who have lost their homes and had damage to their property. We have a lot of hurting Oklahomans today who need our support. I want to thank our dedicated first responders and firefighters who have worked tirelessly in very tough conditions and continue to fight fires on the ground. We urge our nonprofit, church and community partners to stand with us as we help impacted Oklahomans get back on their feet.”
Senate Pro Tempore Lonnie Paxton today issued the following statement regarding the devastating wildfires affecting communities across Oklahoma.
“The wildfires burning across our state have caused immense destruction, forcing families from their homes and straining our emergency response efforts,” Pro Tem Paxton said. “Governor Stitt’s decisive action on the emergency declaration is a critical step in ensuring our communities receive the necessary resources to combat these fires and begin the recovery process.
“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the brave first responders, firefighters, law enforcement and emergency personnel who are working tirelessly—often at great personal risk—to protect lives and property. Their dedication and sacrifice in these challenging conditions are truly commendable.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families impacted by these fires, especially those who have suffered losses. We urge all Oklahomans to remain vigilant, follow emergency directives and support those in need during this difficult time. Together, we will recover and rebuild stronger than ever.”
Senator Chuck Hall, R-Perry, issued the following statement regarding the ongoing wildfires affecting communities across the state and District 20.
“The wildfires that swept across Oklahoma have left devastation in their wake,” Sen. Hall said. “As I toured the devastation this morning with emergency management officials and Governor Kevin Stitt, I saw firsthand the homes, businesses and livelihoods that have been destroyed. We are unfortunately feeling this impact of these fires statewide. Our hearts go out to those who have lost property or been displaced.
“On the state level, we will do whatever we can to help in the immediate aftermath, which is why I appreciate Governor Stitt’s action on issuing an emergency declaration, which will help ensure our local communities receive the state and federal resources they need to battle these fires and begin the recovery process. I also deeply thank him for taking me up on the invitation and coming to tour the damage with me and others this morning.
“I want to thank the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement, emergency personnel and volunteers who are putting themselves in harm’s way to protect lives and property.
“My deepest sympathies are with all those impacted, and I encourage Oklahomans to support their neighbors in need. Our state is strong, and together, we will recover and rebuild.”
Rep. Trish Ranson, D-Stillwater, released the following statement after wildfires moved through Stillwater, destroying several homes.
“I am grateful for the brave men and women at Stillwater Emergency Management, Stillwater Police Department and Stillwater Fire Department for evacuating folks safely and quickly during yesterday’s fires,” Ranson said. “Their efforts to get neighbors out of harm’s way saved lives. Although several homes and neighborhoods were lost and severely damaged, relief efforts are underway by the State, City and County officials. I am praying for Stillwater and urge everyone to utilize the resources available to them. We must continue to look out for one another and support each other where we can. We will do whatever we can to heal from this devastation. We are Stillwater strong.”
House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson, D-Oklahoma City, released the following statement after historic statewide wildfires.
“My deepest gratitude to all of the brave first responders who put their lives on the line every day to keep Oklahomans safe—thank you,” Leader Munson said. “As more information on the aftermath of yesterday’s devastating fires is shared, I am praying for those who are without their homes and businesses and who are injured. Please remember you are not alone in this. I urge Oklahomans to look out for one another as we experience more weather today and continue to recover from yesterday. There are resources for Oklahomans who need them. Please take advantage of them. In times like these, it is important we stick together and help our neighbors.”
Senator Grant Green, R-Wellston, today issued the following statement and expressed his deepest condolences to the families affected by the devastating wildfires that have swept through the state, claiming at least one life.
“The devastation in our state is unimaginable, and I grieve and pray alongside those who are suffering, especially with the family who lost their loved one,” Sen. Green said. “These fires have tragically destroyed homes, displaced families, lives and have left a lasting impact on us all. In the face of this hardship, I have been humbled by the resilience of Oklahomans and the unwavering dedication of our first responders, firefighters and emergency personnel who have worked around the clock to ensure the safety of others.
“The volunteers, relief organizations and neighbors who have stepped up in the wake of disaster is nothing short of encouraging. Their generosity and selflessness embody the Oklahoma Standard. From providing shelter and supplies to helping with evacuations and recovery efforts, Oklahomans have come together in an extraordinary way. We will continue working with state and local officials to ensure resources are available for those in need.
“I urge residents to remain vigilant and follow emergency guidance as we move forward. My office remains in contact with emergency management officials and will help connect anyone with the resources they need in this tragic aftermath.”
