A “VERY HIGH” allergy alert has been issued for Tuesday, September 23rd, due to an “extreme exposure situation” from weed pollen, with ragweed levels being the primary concern. The weed pollen count is once again the “HIGHEST REPORTED in the US”. The air quality index (AQI) forecast for today, however, is “good” across the region.
The high levels of ragweed pollen, combined with “HIGH MOLD LEVELS,” are triggering allergies for many people. For those with severe allergies or allergic bronchial asthma, “severe symptoms may be expected,” and it is advised that more seriously allergic individuals “stay indoors as much as possible”.
September is also noted as “Asthma Peak Month,” with more cases and attacks occurring than in any other month.
