Oklahoma’s Trey Myers Competes for 2025–26 National FFA Office

Oklahoma’s Trey Myers, a proud member of the Perkins-Tryon FFA Chapter, is representing his state in the selection process for the 2025–2026 National FFA Officer Team. Senior Fram and ranch broadcaster Ron Hays had a chance to talk with Trey about this opportunity. Deeply rooted in his community and passionate about agricultural education, Trey has carried his hometown values into every step of his FFA journey. His enthusiasm and dedication to leadership have made him a strong contender as he prepares to represent Oklahoma on the national stage.

Trey’s FFA journey began modestly, sparked more by curiosity than ambition. “To be fully transparent, I first joined just to get out of school,” he admits with a laugh. Following in his brother’s footsteps, he started showing goats, but the turning point came when his teacher encouraged him to attend Alumni Leadership Camp. “Those three days completely changed how I viewed the organization and just honestly changed my life for the better,” Trey recalls. The camp revealed to him that FFA was “a lot more than just being able to win some awards or being able to miss school.”

From that transformative camp experience, Trey’s passion for leadership grew. He served as the Oklahoma Central Area Vice President during his freshman year of college, later returning to the Alumni Leadership Camp as director. As he prepared for the rigorous national officer interviews in Indianapolis, Trey emphasized a key piece of advice from Oklahoma FFA Executive Secretary Mr. Lucas: “Be proactive and not reactive.” That mantra guided him throught that time. “When I show up to convention… I hope that I can rely on all I’ve done the last couple months, so I can be proactive throughout that week.”

When asked what draws him to the idea of being a national officer, Trey’s answer circles back to that first camp experience. “Everything changed on that third night of alumni camp,” he says. “What I love about camp is it’s the essence of human existence, we just provide such a strong human connection.” He hopes to bring that same sense of closeness and belonging nationwide, explaining, “I just want to bring that small group of 19… to FFA members across the country.”

Trey’s philosophy of leadership is rooted in humility and empathy. He recounts a story about Oklahoma State wide receiver Rashod Owens, who once noticed Trey having a rough day. “He said, ‘Trey, you seem off. Are you doing okay?’” That brief moment shaped Trey’s outlook: “Leaders aren’t the people that go out and score the most touchdowns… Leaders are the people that take a moment to find out a water boy’s name and ask them if they’re doing all right.” That’s the kind of leadership Trey strives to model.

Reflecting on FFA’s impact, Trey says simply, “I’m living proof of it.” He credits the organization for shaping his character and purpose: “There’s not any other organization that I’ve ever been around that genuinely places more interest in other people’s needs before their own.” Trey believes that kind of service-first community is what makes FFA truly unique.

For younger FFA members, Trey offers heartfelt advice: “Understand the difference between success and significance.” He tells of giving his first speech, shaking with nerves, and eventually finishing as state runner-up. But the real value came afterward: “What was really significant about that night wasn’t hearing my name called—it was celebrating with the people afterwards that made it possible.” As he looks ahead to the national announcement, Trey reflects humbly: “It would be a true, true honor to be able to represent Oklahoma and all the people that have supported me and made it possible to get this far.”
