The ice storm across the southern great plains almost kept the headliner for the Opening General Session of the 2023 Cattle Industry Convention from showing up- but while Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator of the hit TV show Yellowstone was not able to be in New Orleans- a zoom link allowed him to remotely be on stage as he spoke to a room full of fans from the 6666 ranch in Texas.

6666 Ranch, or Four Sixes Ranch, was founded by Samuel “Burk” Burnett back in 1870 when he purchased 100 heads of cattle and gave them the now-famous 6666 brand. Burnett went on to become one of the most influential and successful cattlemen in Texas history. Sheridan told the story about how he was able to buy the legendary ranch in 2022 and that he was excited to be able to share a bit of its history with millions of people via his TV series.

Sheridan talked for a half hour with National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Don Schiefelbein about the his desire to explain to the public real ranch life and how Yellowstone has come to be so loved by fans around the world.
