Oklahoma CattleWomen Announce Annual Award Recipients

The Oklahoma CattleWomen, Inc. (OCW) recognized its 2022 award recipients at the Oklahoma Cattle Convention, July 22 and 23 in Norman, Okla. The most prestigious award given by OCW is the Lifetime Achievement Award. While not given every year, this award recognizes an individual or couple who has demonstrated long-standing support and contributions to OCW for a number of years. The 2022 OCW Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is Glenna Fisher of Eufaula, Okla. Fisher has volunteered many hours, sponsored events and donated a number of handmade articles to benefit OCW fundraising projects. Even through on-going health issues, Fisher has been a faithful participant in activities and has made countless quilts, pillows and other handmade goods she has donated to OCW for fundraising.

The Oklahoma CattleWoman of the Year is the organization’s highest honor for its most dedicated leader. It recognizes someone who has given their time and talents to OCW activities in the previous year or years that sets them apart. This year’s 2022 Oklahoma CattleWoman of the Year was Robin Richards from Bartlesville, Okla. Richards has been a very active member of OCW and a district director several times, as well as a member of the Washington County CattleWomen, where she has held several leadership positions including president. She is a vibrant recruiter for both organizations and is an enthusiastic participant in many OCW initiatives.

The Oklahoma CattleWomen also recognizes an Honorary CattleWoman of the Year, when someone has exemplified outstanding and continuing service to the group. This honoree is not typically a member of the organization. This year’s 2022 Honorary CattleWoman of the Year was Chuck Coffey of Springer, Okla. Coffey is not only the husband of past OCW president Ruth Coffey but also has worked alongside CattleWomen at events for more than a decade. The Coffeys have been long-time supporters of OCW events and activities.

Recipient’s families were invited to celebrate with honorees during the 2022 OCW Awards Luncheon as part of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and Oklahoma CattleWomen, Inc. Convention last month. The luncheon was sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau and is an annual event. Honorees are selected by a committee of CattleWomen and can be nominated by members to receive these awards.
