Lucas Cattle Co. donates beef to Polk County Christian Social Ministries for 39th ‘Share Your Christmas’

Ground beef will feed 450 Bolivar area families as food prices are highest in 40 years and more than 34 million Americans are food insecure.

In a year with nearly 70 percent of American families living paycheck to paycheck due to high inflation, organizations and individuals that distribute food to those in need are being strained to their limits. Recognizing the increasing food needs of many Americans this holiday season, Forrest and Charlotte Lucas are donating all the beef from one of their Lucas Cattle Co. animals for Share Your Christmas food baskets distributed December 14 and 15 by the Polk County Christian Social Ministries (PCCSM) in Bolivar, Mo.

“We are seeing more and more Americans needing help to feed themselves and their families, and we want to help where we can,” said Charlotte Lucas, co-owner of Lucas Cattle Co. “Forrest and I feel blessed in so many ways, and one way we can help is by donating all the beef from one of our cattle to provide Bolivar area families with safe, nutritious, delicious ground beef during the holidays. All of us at Lucas Cattle Co. are truly happy we could help brighten the holidays for so many people who enjoy meals made from our beef.”

PCCSM’s 2022 Share Your Christmas is its 39th annual food basket distribution, with nearly 1,100 people from qualifying families receiving food gifts in 2021. Approximately 100 volunteers organize and conduct the Share Your Christmas distribution, which will take place on December 14 and 15 at the First Assembly of God Church activities building in Bolivar, Mo.

PCCSM’s Share Your Christmas program is in collaboration with the Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Polk County Cattlemen’s Association, Glenn’s Bull Rental (Walnut Grove, Mo.) and Lucas Cattle Co.
