Rep. Kat Cammack Receives Outstanding New Member of Congress Award

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and Florida Farm Bureau today presented Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) with the Outstanding New Member of Congress Award. This award recognizes a member of Congress who has recently completed their first term and has already proven to be a reliable partner for agriculture.

“I’m honored to present the Outstanding New Member of Congress Award to Congresswoman Cammack,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “Now more than ever, we need strong advocates for agriculture in Congress, and I’m grateful we have her in our corner.”

Congresswoman Cammack, who was elected to her first term in 2020, has been an outspoken advocate for protecting farmers against overburdensome regulation from the SEC, fought against tax proposals that would have devastated family farms, and sponsored a repeal of the death tax to ensure farmers and ranchers can pass their farms onto the next generation.

“Congresswoman Cammack also knows the importance of bringing together others who are committed to the same mission, just as farmers and ranchers do. She is co-chair of the Congressional Soils Caucus and a member of Rural Broadband and Working Forests caucuses – to name just a few – and has dedicated countless hours to travelling around the country touring farms and ranches to hear firsthand about the challenges we face in agriculture.”

Florida Farm Bureau nominated Cammack for the award in honor of her service to rural America in Washington, D.C., including her dedication to farmers not just in Florida but around the nation.

Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Smith said, “We are pleased to see Congresswoman Kat Cammack receive the Outstanding New Member of Congress award. Her service and passion for agriculture is demonstrated daily. Her practical approach to speaking up on the issues that farmers and ranchers face at the local to national level is commendable. As a member of Farm Bureau and the House Agriculture Committee, telling the stories of farmers and ranchers is personal to her. She is truly a voice for agriculture. We are fortunate to have Congresswoman Cammack as a friend.”

AFBF’s Outstanding New Member of Congress Award recognizes members of Congress who have served no more than one full term in Congress at the time of nomination and exemplify agricultural leadership and support of Farm Bureau policies. Recipients are chosen for having a philosophy or record that demonstrates a commitment to sound agricultural policies supported by Farm Bureau, the private enterprise system, fiscal conservatism and reduced federal regulation of businesses and individuals.
