Introducing Jana Stacy of the Oktaha FFA Chapter, Your 2023 Northeast Area Star in Agricultural Production

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Jana Stacy ahead of the 97th Oklahoma State FFA Convention in Tulsa.

During the month of April, the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network and Oklahoma Farm Report are spotlighting the 17 Area Stars of Oklahoma FFA that are among the highest achievers in the organization.

The stars come from the five areas in four categories- Star in Ag Placement, Star in Agriscience, Star in Agribusiness, and Star in Agricultural Production.

This week, we spotlight the five area stars in Agricultural Production in 2023.

One Star Finalist featured in the coming days from each of the categories will be named the State Star Award Winner during the 97th Oklahoma State FFA Convention coming up on May 2nd and 3rd in Tulsa, Okla.

This week, our coverage of the 2023 Oklahoma FFA Star Award Finalists begins with Agricultural Production competitor Jana Stacy of the Oktaha FFA chapter representing the Northeast Area.

“I raise breeding sheep and also breeding cattle,” Stacy said. “This basically started when I was an 8th grader.”

Stacy said her dad inspired her to want to raise some of her own livestock.

“For Christmas that year, my grandpa gave me my first cow,” Stacy said.

Having an uncle who is a vet, Stacy said, has been a great resource for preserving the health of her animals.

“My favorite moment was the very first time I ever pulled a lamb,” Stacy said.

Stacy participates in livestock shows and numerous types of FFA competitions.

“FFA has taught me to appreciate the highs and the lows,” Stacy said. “Even though you are having a bad day, there is always going to be something to pick it up. There is always something better over the rainbow.”

After high school graduation, Stacy said she plans to attend Eastern Oklahoma State College to livestock judge, then transfer to Oklahoma State University to major in Agricultural Education.
