Oklahoma’s Good to Excellent Pasture and Range Conditions Jump 10 Percentage Points This Week

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed for the U.S. reached 61 percent, even with the previous year and the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 31 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair, and 40 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 29 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 41 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 81 percent, up 12 percentage points from the previous year and up 6 points from the average. Corn emerged reached 52 percent, up 17 percentage points from the previous year and up 7 points from the average.

Soybeans planted reached 66 percent, up 19 percentage points from the previous year and up 14 points from the average. Soybeans emerged reached 36 percent, up 17 points from the previous year and up 12 points from the average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 37 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 29 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 37 percent poor to very poor. 

OKLAHOMA:

Winter wheat headed reached 95 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and unchanged from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 52 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 11 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 51 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 66 percent, down 1 point from the previous year and down 2 points from normal. Corn emerged reached 48 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and down 4 points from normal.

Sorghum planted reached 24 percent, up 6 points from the previous year and up 4 points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 24 percent, down 5 points from the previous year and down 11 points from normal.

Peanuts planted reached 28 percent, up 4 points from the previous year but down 4 points from normal.

Cotton planted reached 27 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 4 points from normal.

Livestock conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 39 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 23 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 44 percent poor to very poor.

KANSAS:

Winter wheat jointed was 92 percent, behind 97 percent for both last year and the five-year average. Headed was 73 percent, behind 82 percent last year, and near 75 percent average. Winter wheat conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair, and 69 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair and 68 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted was 71 percent, near 74 percent last year, and 75 percent average. Emerged was 54 percent, ahead of 43 percent last year, and near the 50 percent average.

Sorghum planted was 12 percent, near 10 percent last year, and 9 percent average.

Cotton planted was 40 percent, well behind 66 percent last year, and equal to to the average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 15 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 50 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 13 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 60 percent poor to very poor. 

TEXAS:

Winter wheat headed reached 92 percent, up one point from the previous year and down 2 points from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 23 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 45 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 20 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair, and 52 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 88 percent, down 3 percentage points from the previous year and the average. Corn emerged reached 77 percent, down 6 points from the previous year and down 4 points from the average. Corn conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair, and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair, and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts planted 30 percent, down 7 percentage points from the previous year and down 12 points from the average.

Sorghum planted reached 79 percent, up one percentage point from the previous year and down 2 points from the average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair, and 36 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 27 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair, and 51 percent poor to very poor.
