US Wheat Associates Harvest Report for June 30, 2023

The HRW harvest is expected to accelerate as temperatures trend hot. SRW harvest continues to move forward with data from 87 samples available this week. Much needed precipitation fell across the HRS and northern durum growing region. In the Pacific Northwest, cooler temperatures are needed to stabilize the SW crop.

Weather continues to be a factor as harvest continues across the state. According to updates from Kansas Wheat, “early quality data from south central and central Kansas are showing good quality, with 60 pound test weights and above average proteins.”     .
‘Nearly’ Nearing Completion in Oklahoma. This scene courtesy of the Peters Family Farm in Okarche, OK., shows the rush to “get thing done.”  According to the Oklahoma Wheat Commission’s June 28 report, harvest was just under 70 % complete on that date.
Evening harvest. This harvest scene captured in Oklahoma. According to the Oklahoma Wheat Commission, harvest continues to make progress in Central and Northern Oklahoma despite rains.  Most of the harvest is complete in Northeast Oklahoma and is just starting on limited acres in the Panhandle region.
The 2023 ‘Harvest Sky’ in Texas.  Storms and rain have been a constant theme of this year’s harvest. On June 28, Texas Wheat reported that harvest in that state was nearing 75% complete. Combining in the Panhandle portion is progressing quickly under hot, dry conditions.
