As Drought Intensifies, Bob Rodenberger says Producers Receive Good Profit from Cull Cows

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Bob Rodenberger about the latest in the cattle markets.

KC Sheperd, Farm Director, is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.

“The market is good,” Rodenberger said. “We have seen a good market everywhere.

At Apache on Thursday, Rosenberger said there were 740 cows, which is three times the usual numbers. While many producers believed they would have enough forage and water in their ponds to sustain their herds a few months ago, Rodenberger said that has taken a turn.

“We are not out of this drought situation,” Rodenberger said.

The saving grace, Rodenberger said, is producers can make a pretty good profit off of those cows.

“Those people that didn’t get the adequate rain- they have held on as long as they can,” Rodenberger said.
