RISK MANAGEMENT WITHIN AGRICULTURE – Pryor, Oklahoma – 11/27/23

Have you heard about USDA’s Risk Management Agency and their programs, but don’t know enough about them to utilize them? Or possibly already applied them to your operation but would like a more in-depth look?

The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Risk Management Agency (RMA), created in 1996, serves America’s agricultural producers through effective, market-based risk management tools to strengthen the economic stability of agricultural producers and rural communities. Risk is what makes it possible to make a profit. If there was no risk, there would be no return to the ability to successfully manage it. For each decision there is a risk-return trade-off.

This class will cover the basics of the Agency in what they have to offer to navigate those risks including rainfall, hay,
forage, and livestock insurance. It is taught by Chris Cole, Ag Defense Risk Management, who has roots in both
production and professional agriculture. There will be a presentation with time available for questions.
