2023 TCFA Annual Convention Coming up on October 8 in Grapevine, Texas

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Brady Miller about the 2023 TCFA Annual Convention.

Farm Director, KC Sheperd, is talking with the Director of Market, Membership and Education at the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Brady Miller. Miller talks about what to look forward to at the TCFA Annual Convention coming up on October 8-10 in Grapevine, Texas.

The convention at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center will offer a group of dynamic speakers, Miller said, starting out with an update from the president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Todd Wilkinson.

In conjunction with the Texas Beef Council, Miller said on Monday morning, TCFA will be hosting a panel of speakers to talk about staying in touch with what the consumer is looking for.

“If we are not producing a good product that they are willing to buy, as this product continues to get more expensive every day and every year, then we are missing the boat,” Miller said. “The worst thing we can ever do is produce a product that the consumer doesn’t like or doesn’t want, and then our demand goes down, and it just goes downhill from there.”

After the awards luncheon, on Monday, there will be more speakers, beginning with Wayne Hoffman. Hoffman is a mentalist and illusionist, Miller said, and he will be talking about the power of the mind.

“In my opinion, we are in an industry that has a lot of ups and downs…it is really important to make sure you are able to keep your mental side and your mind right and know the power of the mind and what the mind can do,” Miller said.

The session will end with Blue Angels pilot, John Foley. At the top of his game, Miller said Foley is always looking at ways to improve. In his career, Foley had little room for error- much like feeding cattle.

“His talk is mainly about how the good and the best become better,” Miller said. “I think that is an important message for our guys because, yes, for right now, we produce an excellent product. The consumer is buying it, and the consumer likes it, and they are eating it. That doesn’t mean we should stop, and we shouldn’t be looking for ways to continue to improve and make our product better.”
