The Department of Natural Resources Management at Texas Tech University, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) are hosting the Panhandle Wildlife Conference (PWC) Oct. 20-21 at the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock.
The conference is the first of its kind since the 1990s and will explore the diverse landscape and wildlife of the Texas Panhandle, a region rich in both history and natural resources.
“This conference was designed with the Texas Panhandle landowners and land managers in mind,” said Brad Simpson, TPWD district leader for District 2. “We wanted to showcase not only what is going on in the Panhandle, but also provide land managers the opportunity to see and hear up-to-date information.
“We are excited to be able to share some of this information with Panhandle landowners and land managers. There is something for everyone.”
Presenters at the conference include land owners, TWA leadership, personnel from TPWD, the Texas A&M Forrest Service and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service among others.
The event will also include a chuckwagon dinner and social following the evening panel discussions Friday.
Early bird registration is available through Oct. 9. Tickets for the event are $50 for students and $75 for the public.
Tickets also are available for those wishing to use the conference as a continuing education credit.
