Congresswoman Stephanie Bice released the following statement after voting for Representative Mike Johnson as the new Speaker of the House:
“Today, I voted in strong support of Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House. Earlier this year, I gave the nomination speech for Mike when he ran for Vice Chairman of the Republican Conference, and I know firsthand that Mike is a steadfast conservative that has the ability to unite our conference.
We are at an unprecedented time. We must secure the southern border and work to pass a spending bill before the November 17th deadline. On the international front, we have the largest invasion in Europe since WWII, the Middle East is a tinderbox, our troops have been attacked, and terrorists are emboldened.Democracy is messy; however, it is crucial that we abandon the idea of pitting us against one another. Now is the time to come together and continue pushing our pro-American and pro-growth agenda. We must be laser focused. Let’s get back to work.”
