Right to Repair from the State House to the White House with NFU

It was another banner week for the Right to Repair movement with exciting developments at the state and national level.

Rocky Mountain Farmers Union member Danny Wood was invited to present on a White House panel discussing Right to Repair and the recently passed Colorado Consumer Repair Bill of Rights Act. Danny was joined on the panel by senior staff from the White House, along with representatives from Apple, Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, and other Right to Repair advocates.   In his remarks, Danny hit on one of the basic points of the Right to Repair, saying “Farmers are not people that like to rely on others – we like to fix things ourselves.” You can watch Danny’s full speech at the video below.

Also earlier in the week, the Michigan House Agriculture Committee passed the Agriculture Equipment Repair Act, which has had significant support and involvement from Michigan Farmers Union and NFU throughout the process of bringing the bill forward.  “Michigan Farmers Union was proud to have worked closely in developing this bill and will continue to fight for its passage,” said Michigan Farmers Union President Bob Thompson. “I want to thank agriculture committee Chair Reggie Miller for standing with farmers in support of our Right to Repair our farm equipment. Farmers Union will continue to advocate for fair and robust access to equipment repair for family farmers in Michigan and across the country.”
