Export Growth Across Key Markets

Throughout the first 10 months of 2023, pork exports soared, marking a 9% increase from the previous year, reaching a substantial 2.38 million metric tons (mt). October had a robust performance, with pork exports totaling 245,345 metric tons (mt), showcasing a 3% increase compared to the same period last year, marking the highest volume since June.

The demand for pork exports has been exceptional, not only within Mexico but also across global markets:

  • Record-breaking pork exports to Mexico soared to an unprecedented 100,867 mt, marking an impressive 19% increase from a year ago.
  • Central America experienced a significant increase in pork exports, with shipments to Guatemala reaching record levels and substantial growth observed in Honduras, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. The volume increased by 35% from a year ago, totaling 13,722 mt in October.
  • South Korea had an increase in October pork exports, reaching 13,427 mt, reflecting a 6% increase from the previous year and marking the highest export volume since June.
  • The Oceania region, specifically Australia and New Zealand, had a sharp uptick in pork shipments. Exports to Oceania between January and October experienced an 82% increase, with shipments doubling to New Zealand and a significant increase to Australia, totaling 63,607 mt.
