Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program Alumni Host Class XXI at Myriad Gardens Thursday

Class XXI of the Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program at the Myriad Gardens in OKC

The President of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Rodd Moesel, is one of more than 500 alums of the Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program(member of Class V) and he helped host Class XXI in an annual Christmas dinner at the Myriad Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City on Thursday evening. The Class is holding their fourth seminar since coming together this past August- working on Communications and Leadership.

Moesel introduced several of the Alums who have benefited from the program- and challenged the newest class that has just started their leadership journey thru OALP to invest themselves into the program- saying it will return huge dividends.

Oklahoma Farm Report’s Ron Hays talked with Moesel about the program- and how it was valuable to him- and they also talked about Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s highlights in 2023- and what was ahead for 2024.

Looking back on 2023- “I feel real encouraged about how this year has gone- it seems like involvement level of members has been greater at the county level, area meetings and we have had more folks come to the Capitol with county visits than we have had- maybe ever- but most certainly since COVID times.” He also points to the excitement of rural development outreach and “all the great partnerships across the state” and believes that can be a blessing for rural Oklahoma.

Looking ahead to 2024- Moesel says that Farm Bureau is focused on working with Congress to get a new five year farm bill- “we’re excited that we have the extension but really hopeful that we can get a five year farm bill…farmers and ranchers need certainty” which he believes can happen with a new farm law.
