Farm Director KC Sheperd is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.
Rodenberger said the market this week was great, and the runs were good.
“For the cattle that are going out to grass or for the people that are buying cattle to finish out some wheat, this calf market is just continuing to grow better and better and better,” Rodenberger said.
The feeder market was better this week as well, Rodenberger said, as it seems like there was quite a jump in prices this week.
“We have seen some people buy a few cows just to replace old cows they have culled, but they still haven’t built back to where they were a year and a half ago,” Rodenberger said. “We don’t have anybody coming in wanting big numbers.”
For producers looking into rebuilding their herds, Rodenberger said this spring is going to need to receive plenty of rainfall, as many producers’ ponds have not recovered yet.
