Farm Director KC Sheperd is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.
After two weeks of slow runs due to the weather, Rodenberger said things have finally picked up.
“Everybody has had good seasonal runs compared to the last year,” Rodenberger said. “The market is tremendous.”
There has been a lot of interest in buying calves to go out on wheat pasture, Rodenberger said, and those calves are selling high. Regarding the low cattle inventory numbers across the U.S., Rodenberger said it is part of the cycle.
“Oklahoma reduced more cows in pretty much every state in the union,” Rodenberger said.
There is a chance for snow that may impact the auctions the week of February 12th.
