Ben Hale says High Cattle Prices and Good Rains Raise Optimism in the Cattle Industry

Listen to Ron Hays talk with Ben Hale about the latest in the cattle markets.

On Tuesdays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster, Ron Hays, visits with Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions as he talks about the latest in the markets and more. Established in 1995, Western has grown into a multi-generational family-owned and operated business and stands as a symbol of tradition, excellence, and a deep-rooted passion for the cattle industry. Western Livestock Auctions is located in Oklahoma City, Woodward, and Comanche.

Estimated at 12,000 head this week at Oklahoma National Stockyards, Hale talked about the great quality of the cattle.

“Lots of great quality yesterday,” Hale said. “Several heifers that could have gone back to the country to be bred but weren’t. Good showing at about 12,000 compared to about 8200 a year ago.”

Hale said by the looks of it, there should be plenty of wheat available for graze-out. As for grazing calves, Hale said prices are high, and there is plenty of demand.

With the next USDA Cattle on Feed report coming out this Friday, Hale said the placement numbers are estimated at 92 percent, which has producers optimistic.

Hale can be contacted at 940-631-2333.
