Oklahoma Winter Wheat Crop Rates 70 Percent Good to Excellent This Week

According to the latest Oklahoma Crop Progress and Condition Report released on February 26th, winter wheat conditions rated 70 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair, and 6 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 29 percent good to excellent, 51 percent fair, and 20 percent poor to very poor.

Livestock conditions in Oklahoma rated 67 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 0.01 inches. According to the February 20th US Drought Monitor Report, drought conditions were rated 17 percent abnormally dry to exceptional drought, down 64 points from last year. Additionally, 3 percent of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought categories, down 72 points from the previous year. Statewide, temperatures averaged in the lower to upper 50’s. Topsoil moisture and subsoil moisture conditions were rated short to adequate. There were 6.8 days suitable for fieldwork.

Small Grains: In the Central part of the state small grains were looking good. Winter wheat grazed reached 57 percent, down 6 points from the previous year but unchanged from normal. Rye grazed reached 46 percent, up 6 points from the previous year. Oats grazed reached 8 percent, down 30 points from the previous year.
