Investing in OSU Agriculture and Students with Wade Thomason

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Dr. Wade Thomason about new OSU facilities and more.

At the OCIA/OGI Meeting in Oklahoma City, Farm Director KC Sheperd had the chance to talk with Dr. Wade Thomason, a professor of plant and soil sciences at Oklahoma State University.

“I am excited to see the investment the university is making in agriculture with New Frontiers Ag Hall with the new facilities at the agronomy farm and the opportunities we are going to have to talk with students about the investments that are being made and how much we want to see them there and be a part of the cowboy culture,” Thomason said.

Moving from facilities built in the 1950s to state-of-the-art labs, Thomason talked about the anticipation many at the university are feeling.

“The front steps on ag hall are the place where you can socialize, and this new building is completely designed around a student center focus, so I feel like we are going to have a lot more students who feel a lot more at home in the building,” Thomason said. “Hopefully, that ties into more time with us and a greater affinity for the entire process.”

As a leading agricultural state, Thomason said he is proud to have the chance to talk with students at OSU about the opportunities within Oklahoma in the agriculture industry.

“Look at the investment that is being made going forward,” Thomason said. “It is not what we were, but what we aspire to be. I think we are making the investments to fulfill that.”
