Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Mariah Reimer about the OCF Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund and more.

Farm Director KC Sheperd is talking with the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation, Mariah Reimer, about the OCF Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund that is open for donations for farmers and ranchers affected by the wildfires plaguing the home state. Established in 2017, the OCF Disaster Relief Fund is a year-round fund set in place to help producers in times of need.

Reimer said on the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation website, visitors can click the Wildfire Disaster Relief button on the homepage to access a hub of links for Texas and Oklahoma. This page will be updated within the next 24 hours, Reimer added.

“You will be able to find links of exact places for drop-offs for hay and resources such as feed,” Reimer said.

There will also be a list of those whom the wildfires have impacted, Reimer added, all on the OCF website.

“You need to be proactive,” Reimer said. “You need to be taking pictures of your current operations. You need to take pictures of the fire damage, you need to take pictures, if viable, of the ear tags of brands, and have beginning and ending inventory before and after the fire.”

Having documentation prepared is a great way for farmers and ranchers to be proactive so that when these resources from the Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund become available, they are ready to apply for those.

Reimer added that this fund is current and ongoing, so if more natural disasters are to occur, The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation will provide a hub of information to aid in the event.
