– Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address given to a joint session of Congress last night:
“The past three years of the Biden presidency have been plagued with crisis after crisis – surging inflation, a wide-open border, an unstable world stage, skyrocketing violent crime, an unprecedented fentanyl epidemic, and alarmingly weakened national security. Yet, last night, as our nation continues to face all these threats, President Biden gave his third annual State of the Union address, in which he doubled down on the failed decisions of his Administration and attempted to persuade the American people into believing America is stronger today, under his leadership, than it was three years ago,” said Congressman Cole.
“However, unfortunately, this is just not reality – inflation is up nearly 18 percent since President Biden assumed office, record crime has ruined our major American cities, over eight million illegal immigrants have entered our nation in just three years, our adversaries in Iran, China, and Russia have been emboldened, and anti-domestic energy policies have negatively impacted both American energy producers and the ratepayers. At the end of the day, the state of our great Union is not strong, and, although President Biden portrayed last night that everything is excellent, the American people who are bearing the brunt of his failed policies know better,” said Congressman Cole. “Nevertheless, as the representative for Oklahomans in the fourth district, I take my job seriously. I, along with many of my other House Republican colleagues, am fighting for strong, commonsense solutions to combat President Biden’s broken policies, and I am hopeful that President Biden will soon begin to work with us to turn the state of our Union around and put our nation on a better path.”
