Bob Rodenberger says Lower Sale Numbers are Seasonal and Markets Should Remain Steady Next Week

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Bob Rodenberger about the latest in the cattle markets.

Farm Director KC Sheperd is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.

Markets started out sluggish this week, but Rodenberger said they are getting back to a steady pace. Whatever the reason may be for the break in the market, Rodenberger said sometimes these things happen.

Lower numbers this week are seasonal, Rodenberger said, but this week’s downturn also could be because of the weather, release of the USDA Cattle on Feed Report or other factors.

“In the next 45 days, whatever cattle are out on wheat are all going to come to town, and they are all going to come to town at the same time, they are all going to be big, and they are all going to be fat,” Rodenberger said.

After the Easter holiday, Rodenberger said he expects markets to start out steady next week.

“My biggest concern is that we have got to keep demand,” Rodenberger said. “Outside of that, the rest of it is all just part of the movement of the market.
