Oklahoma’s Winter Wheat Conditions Drop While Pasture and Range Sees Improvements in This Week’s Crop Progress

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 6 percent, down one percentage point from the previous year and up one point from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 12 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 3 percent, even with the previous year and up one percentage point from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 5 percent, even with the previous year and down one point from the five-year average.

Sorghum planted reached 13 percent, even with the previous year and down one point from the five-year average.

Oklahoma Crop Progress:

Winter wheat jointing reached 55 percent, up 13 points from the previous year and up 3 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 68 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 73 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. 

Livestock conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 66 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 6 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent, 42 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 38 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. 

Kansas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat jointed was 30 percent ahead of 15 percent last year and 17 percent for the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 4 percent, near 5 percent last year and the 3 percent average.

Texas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 27 percent, down 3 percentage points from the previous year and up 2 percentage points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 20 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 47 percent, even with the previous year and down one percentage point from the five-year average.

Corn planted reached 59 percent, down one percentage point from the previous year and up 2 points from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 34 percent, down 3 percent from the previous year and up 1 percent from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 8 percent, down 2 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 22 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 47 percent poor to very poor.
