Cole Remembers the Oklahoma City Bombing

Today, on the 29th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing, Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement:

“Twenty-nine years ago today, on April 19, 1995, a despicable act of domestic terror took place at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City that shocked not only Oklahoma, but the entire nation,” said Congressman Cole. “This tragic day took 168 lives from us and will forever be imprinted in our minds.”

“I will never forget the sadness, grief, and horror I felt as I watched mothers, fathers, children, and friends have their loved ones brutally taken from them on that dark day. However, I will also never forget the way that our beloved state responded so swiftly and compassionately as we were launched onto a worldwide stage without warning. In the days, weeks, and months that followed, Oklahoma truly showed strength of character, empathy, and courage, rather than panic and fear,” said Congressman Cole. “So, today, as we grieve with those who lost a loved one that day, may we remember and honor the innocent lives prematurely taken from us, the hundreds injured, our brave first responders who responded so nobly, and the strong leadership shown by our governing officials. They will not be forgotten.”
