N. Malone Mitchell Jr. A has been a successful rancher and businessman in Oklahoma and Texas for over 60 years. He graduated as an Animal Science student from Oklahoma State University in 1963 and was a member of the Flying Aggies where he met his wife, Roberta. Over the years Mitchell Jr. has worked hard to acquire land and become a prominent agricultural producer. He now owns a ranch across hundreds of thousands of acres making him the largest producer south of I-40 and east of I-35. Mitchell Jr. continuously gives back to the Department of Animal and Food Sciences and Ferguson College of Agriculture.

In July 2021, the Mitchell Family established the N. Malone and Roberta Mitchell Jr. Family Endowed Scholarship for Animal Science students employed at the OSU Sheep and Goat Center, planning to return to a commercial operation upon graduation. In 2021 the Mitchell Family also became a cornerstone donor for the New Frontiers Agricultural Hall Capital Campaign naming a soils lab N. Malone Mitchelle Jr. Soils Lab to recognize the importance of soil in agricultural operations. We are so thankful for all Mr. Mitchell Jr. does for the department as well as the college and could not be more grateful to recognize him as a Graduate of Distinction.
