Active Markets This Week According to Western Livestock’s Ben Hale

Listen to Ron Hays talk with Ben Hale about the latest in the cattle markets.

On Tuesdays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster, Ron Hays, visits with Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions as he talks about the latest in the markets and more. Established in 1995, Western has grown into a multi-generational family-owned and operated business and stands as a symbol of tradition, excellence, and a deep-rooted passion for the cattle industry. Western Livestock Auctions is located in Oklahoma City, Woodward, and Comanche.

At the Oklahoma National Stockyards on Monday, Hale said there were 5900 head of cattle sold compared to around 6700 one year ago.

“I think probably the rain slowed some of that down,” Hale said. “If they didn’t have them up and ready to go, then they weren’t going to get them out with the rain we got around central, western, and back south and east. Probably going to have a little bigger run this week coming up.”

Hale said markets this week were 2.00 to 6.00 cwt higher, and the market was very active.

The action in Woodward sold around 250 cows today, Hale said, and both the Woodward and Comanche sale barns are expected to have good runs for the remainder of the week.

Hale also talked about the upcoming LMA auctioneer championship coming up in Oklahoma City on June 12-15th. To learn more about the championship, CLICK HERE.
