The Cattle Markets are Hot This Week Going into July 4th

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Bob Rodenberger about the latest in the cattle markets.

KC Sheperd, Farm Director, is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.

The feeder cattle market has continued to move higher, Rodenberger said, although the new crop calf market is starting to see some resistance. Heat and health issues have contributed to a lower calf market, Rodenberger said, but the market isn’t super low by any means.

“The fat market is kind of at a stalemate,” Rodenberger said. “The packers have got some bought up, and everybody is still wanting the old prices. In general, the market is in good shape.”

It is going to be important to keep moving beef products, Rodenberger said, as higher prices might make it difficult for some to afford the beef product.

Following the 4th of July holiday week, Rodenberger said expects to see some bigger runs for those who weren’t able to sell the week prior.
