Bob Rodenberger Says Lighter Runs Expected in OKC Next Week Due to Winter Weather

Farm Director KC Sheperd is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.

“Monday, we had a little over 14,000,” Rodenberger said. “The market was good; a little sluggish. A lot of it was due to the weather up north of us. People were hesitant to be very aggressive, but the calf market- the grazing calf market- is still awful good.”

In general, Rodenberger said the market is still good compared to what it was a year ago.

Regarding the cold weather coming in next week, Rodenberger said he expects that runs may be lighter.

“If they are coming from a distance, everybody is on a ‘wait and see’ attitude, to see what develops through this afternoon and into tomorrow,” Rodenberger said.

Rodenberger advises producers who are planning on sending cattle to Oklahoma City next week to call and check in on the weather and the market first.

“Hopefully we will be cleaned up by this time next week and back on course,” Rodenberger said.
