Bice’s Statement on Today’s Vote

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to avert a government shutdown and extend the funding for Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, Transportation-Housing-Urban Development, Agriculture, and Energy and Water until March 1st and the other eight appropriations bills until March 8th.

Congresswoman Bice issued the following statement:

“Shutting the government down does not solve the border crisis. In fact, it makes it worse. If the government were shutdown, Customs and Border Patrol agents would be forced to deal with the disastrous impacts of Biden’s Border Crisis with no pay and diminished resources. Ending the immigration crisis remains a top priority for me, which is why I drafted legislation late last year that contained robust border security provisions while also reducing spending by 8%. We must responsibly cut spending and focus on conservative priorities without holding our military and federal workers hostage. While I am frustrated with the need for another continuing resolution, this was the only feasible option on the table.”
