Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Bob Rodenberger about the latest in the cattle markets.

Farm Director KC Sheperd is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets. Before giving an update on the markets, Rodenberger looked back on times with the late Glenn Payne, who Rodenberger said began his career at a similar time.

“Glenn and I came onto the yards in ’81 together,” Rodenberger said.

From ’81 to the present, Rodenberger said he and Payne became great friends of the business, and he sends his condolences to the Payne family.

“It is a sad day,” Rodenberger said. “We are going to miss Glenn.”

Regarding the livestock markets, Rodenberger said the market is fully steady.

“We have seen some cattle with a premium in them,” Rodenberger said. “The quality and the condition were excellent. In general, we have had a steady market pretty much for the last month.”

Rodenberger said many cattlemen are still looking for cattle to graze out on wheat, and the prices for those cattle to go out on wheat are much higher than average.

“It is a great problem to have for the people to sell them though,” Rodenberger said. “They have got a lot of opportunity.”

Rodenberger also talked about locking in a profit, how to access the video sales offered at Apache Livestock Auctions, and more. Click the listen bar above the story to hear the full conversation!
