OSU’s Kim Anderson Discusses the Latest Movements in the Grain Markets

This week on SUNUP is Oklahoma State University Extension grain market economist Kim Anderson. During this week’s edition, Anderson talks about the latest in the crop markets. Anderson said prices this week are not moving much differently than they have for the past month.

“Wheat prices in northern Oklahoma are about $5.40 for harvest delivery, and down around $5.10 and $5.20 in southern Oklahoma and around $5.30 in the Texas panhandle,” Anderson said. “Remember, your average price in Oklahoma over the harvest period is $5.80.”

Regarding the best time to sell wheat, Anderson said during the June, July, and August time periods, the average price is generally around $5.83. Once September comes around, that price drops over 20 cents, Anderson added.

Corn has been moving sideways, Anderson said, as the average price is around $4.80.

“Soybeans are down to $10.80 for harvest delivered, and the soybeans have started to downtrend,” Anderson said.

Anderson said cotton has lost 6-8 cents over the last few weeks.
