Oklahoma Genetics 21st Annual Meeting Coming up February 12th in OKC

Oklahoma Genetics, Inc. (OGI) will hold its 21st Annual Meeting next Thursday, February 12, bringing members and industry professionals together at the Embassy Suites OKC NW in Oklahoma City.

The event kicks off with registration opening at 8:30 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to pick up their name tags, program materials, and this year’s commemorative giveaway items.

Educational Sessions and Credits A key highlight of the morning agenda is a presentation by Chad Shelton on “CoAXium® Wheat and Aggressor®AX Herbicide.” Organizers have confirmed that Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) credits will be available for attendees present during this session.

Business Meeting and New Releases The afternoon schedule features the OGI Business Meeting, set to begin at 3:10 p.m. This portion of the event is reserved exclusively for OGI members. Dr. Carver is scheduled to present, with expectations that he will share information regarding potential new crop releases.

Awards and Recognition During the meeting, OGI will recognize top performers in the industry. Awards will be presented to the Top Five sales leaders for wheat and the Top One sales leader for peanuts.

Additionally, a new recognition category has been added this year. The organization will honor several members who demonstrated a significant increase in bushels sold, based on a comparison of 2025 sales figures against a three-year average from 2022 through 2024.

OSU Agriculture Leadership & Research

  • Dr. Jayson Lusk: As the VP and Dean of Agriculture, he leads the Ferguson College of Agriculture, OSU Extension, and OSU Ag Research. His background includes serving as a department head at Purdue and expertise in food policy and consumer behavior.
  • Dr. Brett Carver: Now in his 41st year of wheat breeding and genetics research at OSU, Dr. Carver leads the wheat improvement program with the motto, “You knead ’em, we breed ’em!”.
  • Dr. Wade Thomason: An OSU graduate and current Head of the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.
  • Dr. Scott Senseman: The Associate VP of the OK Ag Experiment Station. His research background includes extensive work with herbicides and pesticides.
  • Dr. Jason Warren: Currently the Assistant Director and State Program Leader for Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Community Economic Development at OSU Extension.

Crop Science & Breeding Partners

  • Dr. Kelly Chamberlin (USDA ARS): Leads the Peanut and Small Grains Research Unit in Stillwater. Her team works on new varieties of wheat, peanut, sorghum, and barley, with a specific personal focus on disease-resistant high-oleic peanuts.
  • Dr. Allan Fritz (Kansas State University): A wheat breeder who has led the K-State wheat breeding program for central Kansas since 2000.
  • David Nowlin (OK Peanut Commission): The Executive Director of the commission. He holds advanced degrees in agronomy and plant pathology, with specific research experience in peanut pod rot.

Economics, Markets & Policy

  • Dr. Todd Hubbs: An OSU economist specializing in commodity markets, biofuels, and risk management. He previously served as a senior outlook economist at the USDA for oilseeds, feed grains, and wheat.
  • Dr. Amy Hagerman: An Associate Professor in Ag Econ whose work focuses on managing agricultural risks, including extreme weather, market fluctuations, and animal health policy.

Industry Strategy & Innovation

  • Chad Shelton (Albaugh, LLC): Serving as Global Director of Innovation Technology and HT Crops, he focuses on identifying innovative technologies globally to assist growers with production challenges.
  • Andrew Hoelscher (Farm Strategy): President and founder of Farm Strategy, a company dedicated to building ingredient-based supply chains that connect end-use value back to the production system.
  • Brian Walker: A veteran of the flour milling business for over 45 years. He currently serves on the National Wheat Foundation Board, focusing on the National Wheat Yield contest and end-user quality.

Door Prizes To close out the event, ten door prizes will be drawn, each consisting of a $100 certificate for “OGI Bucks.” These certificates can be applied toward OGI expenses, including membership fees and royalty payments. Organizers note that attendees will receive a ticket at registration and must be present during the Business Meeting to win.

Location and Parking The Embassy Suites is located at 3233 Northwest Expressway. There is ample free parking available at the venue. Guests are advised that the “Ballroom Entrance,” located at the southwest corner of the building, provides the most direct access to the registration and meeting area.
