US Senator James Lankford (R-OK) spent last week traveling across Oklahoma, meeting with working families, first responders, veterans, and business leaders to discuss how the Working Families Tax Cut Act lowers taxes, supports job creation, and helps Oklahomans keep more of what they earn while supporting Oklahoma jobs and families.
“The Working Families Tax Cut Act is about the people who get up every day, go to work, and take care of their families,” said Lankford. “Being back in Oklahoma, I spent time with families, workers, veterans, and small business owners, listening and answering their questions. This law rewards hard work, supports small businesses, and helps families keep more of what they earn.”

Background
Lankford consistently warned that allowing the 2017 tax relief provisions to expire would have meant higher taxes and less certainty for Oklahoma families and small businesses.
Without action from Congress, Oklahoma would have faced:
- Up to 63,000 Oklahoma jobs at risk;
- An average tax increase of more than $2,000 for Oklahoma families;
- Nearly 449,000 households facing a 50 percent cut to the child tax credit;
- More than 233,000 small business owners hit with higher taxes;
- Over 1.5 million families seeing their standard deduction cut in half.
