Ag Groups React To E-15 Announcment

Corn Growers Praise E15 Waiver, Call for Permanent, Year-Round Solution-

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today that it will use its existing authority to prevent drivers from losing access to lower-cost and lower-emission E15, a higher ethanol blend often marketed as Unleaded 88. In response, Ohio farmer and National Corn Growers Association President Jed Bower released the following statement:
“We are deeply appreciative of President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for expanding consumer access to E15 through the summer months. This development will not only help America’s corn growers who are doing their best to navigate tough economic times, but also it will save drivers money at the pump. In fact, drivers save a quarter a gallon on average with E15. “This development is no substitute for action that would allow for the permanent, year-round sale of E15. We call on Congress to heed the calls from President Trump and our congressional allies and immediately pass E15 legislation.”

Klobuchar Statement on EPA Allowing Year-Round Sales of E15 Gasoline-

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, released the statement below after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced an emergency waiver allowing for the year-round sales of E15. “I called for the Administration to allow for year-round sales of E15 in order to bring down prices at the pump and support our farmers,” said Klobuchar. “As consumers and farmers are facing higher costs because of the war in Iran, this is an important step to provide some relief. Every cent saved at the pump can make a real difference. We now must take action in Congress to ensure energy security in the long term and pass my bipartisan legislation to permanently allow for the sale of nationwide, year-round E15.” Yesterday, Klobuchar called for this action and urged the Administration to make E15 available before the summer driving season to help reduce rising domestic fuel prices. In 2023, Klobuchar and Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE), both members of the Senate Agriculture Committee, reintroduced bipartisan legislation to make E15 available year-round. The Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2023 would enable the year-round, nationwide sale of ethanol blends higher than 10 percent, helping to lower fuel prices and provide certainty in fuel markets for farmers and consumers.

American Fram Bureau Federation-

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall called for EPA’s summer waiver to allow sales of fuels blended with 15% ethanol, or E15, to be made permanent amidst growing urgency and calls for the passage of legislation. “Farm Bureau thanks Administrator Lee Zeldin and EPA for granting a waiver to allow E15 to be sold during the summer, but the time is now for Congress to make the availability of E15 permanent. “Biofuels play an important role in meeting America’s energy needs and are a win-win for farmers and drivers. E15 gasoline saves consumers 10 to 30 cents per gallon at the pump and creates markets for American-grown crops. Permanent sales of E15 blends would increase demand for corn by roughly 2.4 billion bushels a year. “We also appreciate Senate Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar’s call for quick action to enable year-round E15 sales. She joins a growing number of senators on both sides of the aisle, including Chairman John Boozman, who recognize the importance of passing legislation on year-round E15. This is a bipartisan opportunity for Congress to work together to benefit America’s families and rural communities.”

Missouri Corn Growers Welcome E15 Waiver, Continue Push For Year-Round Solution-

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today it will issue an emergency waiver allowing the continued sale of E15, a higher ethanol blend also known as Unleaded 88, during the summer driving season. The decision comes as global energy markets face renewed volatility and fuel supplies tighten. Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) President Brian Lehman of Versailles welcomed the announcement. “We appreciate President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for taking action to expand access to E15 during the summer months. With global uncertainty putting pressure on fuel supplies and prices, this is a commonsense move to keep a reliable, lower-cost option available at the pump. “As corn farmers, we take pride in knowing something we grow right here in Missouri is making a difference for families across the country. Ethanol is a homegrown energy solution that supports rural communities, strengthens our energy independence, and delivers real value for consumers. It just makes sense to fully utilize a resource we’re already producing. Now is not the time to let an outdated regulation hold back a fuel that’s ready to do more. “This waiver provides short-term certainty, but it’s not a long-term solution. Year-round access to E15 is a straightforward policy that would deliver consistent savings for drivers and strengthen our domestic energy supply. Missouri’s corn farmers are proud to be part of that solution and ready to keep delivering.”

Growth Energy Commends Trump Administration for E15 Summer Waiver, Urges Congress to Act-

Growth Energy, the nation’s largest biofuel trade association, applauded the Trump administration’s decision to grant emergency waivers allowing uninterrupted, nationwide sales of lower-cost E15, a fuel blend made with 15% ethanol that can be used in 96% of cars on the road today. The decision will ensure that consumers will maintain access to a fuel that saves drivers up to 30 cents per gallon.  “We applaud President Trump, EPA Administrator Zeldin, and our Midwestern governors for their support, and for taking swift action to ensure that retailers, refiners, and biofuel producers have the certainty they need to protect consumer access to savings at the pump,” said Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor. “With the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on the global oil marketplace, it’s more important than ever to shield U.S. consumers from volatility with lower-cost, American-made fuel.” “Now, to bring E15 to new markets and more consumers, it’s vital that Congress act quickly on President Trump’s call for nationwide legislation allowing uninterrupted sales of lower-cost E15. It’s a common-sense solution that doesn’t cost taxpayers a dime. Not only will permanent legislation unlock greater fuel savings across the U.S.—it will deliver an immediate, badly-needed boost to the rural economy.” For more information about E15 and emergency waivers, read Growth Energy’s FAQ here.

NFU Applauds E15 Expansion, Calls on Congress for Permanent Solution-

National Farmers Union (NFU) applauds the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) emergency fuel waiver allowing the nationwide sale of E15 gasoline this summer. NFU has long advocated for year-round access to E15 and the expansion of higher ethanol blends, such as E30, and is calling for a permanent solution that strengthens domestic demand for American-grown agricultural products. “Nationwide access to E15 is a much-needed win for family farmers and consumers alike,” said NFU President Rob Larew. “At a time of increasing global uncertainty, E15 helps lower costs at the pump while creating reliable markets for farmers.” “However, this remains a temporary fix,” Larew continued. “It’s past time for Congress to deliver common-sense legislation that allows for the year-round, nationwide sale of E15.”

Ranking Member Angie Craig on Trump Administration’s E15 Waiver-

Today, House Agriculture Ranking Member Angie Craig (MN-02) released the below statement following the Trump administration’s announcement of an emergency waiver for the sale of summer E15.  “While a temporary waiver for the summer sale of E15 is welcome news and will bolster domestic markets for corn and sorghum farmers and hopefully provide some relief at the pump, it falls far short of the promise of permanent year-round E15. House Democrats have urged the Republican majority to make year-round E15 the law of the land. What are Republicans waiting for? Hardworking people in this country are struggling with Trump’s cost of living crisis – from health care to groceries to energy bills to child care – and it is time that Congress put up or shut up by putting legislation for permanent year-round E15 to a vote of the full House.”  In Congress, Ranking Member Craig has worked across the aisle for years to promote homegrown biofuels and led the charge to pass year-round E15 legislation in the House under the last Democratic majority.   At the recent 2026 Farm Bill markup, she and Agriculture Democrats argued for the inclusion of year-round E15 language to be added to the bill. Agriculture Committee Republicans rejected this effort.  Last year, she introduced her bipartisan Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act to make year-round access to E15 permanent nationwide – expanding market access for American farmers and lowering costs for drivers at the gas pump. She previously led a bipartisan letter to newly confirmed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, urging the Agency to prioritize biofuels as part of the Trump administration’s energy agenda.

ARA Supports EPA’s Emergency Fuel Waiver and Urges Permanent Year-Round E15 to Strengthen Rural America

The Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) applauds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s emergency fuel waiver allowing nationwide summer sales of E15 and easing boutique fuel requirements to strengthen fuel supply, help stabilize prices at the pump, and support rural communities across the country. “For agricultural retailers and the rural economies they serve, access to lower-cost domestically produced energy is critical,” ARA President & CEO Daren Coppock said. “The Administration’s temporary waiver to allow nationwide sale of E15 supports demand for domestically produced ethanol and helps ensure reliable fuel supply during peak driving season.” While the Administration’s waiver offers near term relief, temporary actions fall short of providing the certainty rural businesses and farmers need to plan, invest, and grow. ARA continues to strongly support permanent, year-round E15 nationwide to deliver long term clarity for retailers, consumers, and American farmers. A durable solution would strengthen the agricultural economy, increase market access for corn growers, and reduce uncertainty that disproportionately impacts rural fuel infrastructure. ARA urges Congress to act and encourages stakeholders to participate in its grassroots advocacy opportunity here, calling for permanent year-round E15 availability.
