Boxed beef values moved lower on Tuesday, with Choice dropping $5.30 to $382.74 and Select down $2.04 to $386.33, pushing the Choice/Select spread further negative to -$3.59. Loads increased to 155.
Compared to Monday, all primals were lower, led by the rib which declined from $538.00 to $522.53. Chuck eased from $325.99 to $321.79, round slipped from $329.04 to $324.77, and loin fell from $523.08 to $517.11. Brisket was nearly steady at $341.58 versus $341.95, while plate edged down from $299.52 to $298.89 and flank was slightly lower at $217.97 compared to $218.09.
Boxed beef is now down $12.75 in April.
