Bob Rodenberger Stays Optimistic about the Cattle Business After Recent Moisture and Higher Prices

Listen to KC Sheperd talk with Bob Rodenberger about the cattle markets this week.

KC Sheperd, Farm Director, is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets.

Runs were lighter at the beginning of the week and into the middle of the week, Rodenberger said, due to the moisture received by many. Overall, Rodenberger added, the market has been excellent.

Many individuals have been able to take advantage of some wheat pasture, Rodenberger said, which has allowed cattle producers to hold onto those cattle longer and increase their gain.

“Feeder market would have been higher- steady to higher,” Rodenberger said.

There is demand for the cattle coming through, Rodenberger said, and there is an exceptional market for the front-end cattle.

“The market is good,” Rodenberger said. “I think the fat market is kind of in limbo.”

It is a typical “showdown” in the feed yards, Rodenberger said, but in general, the market is in a good, stable condition.

“We know we are going to see less cattle every day here forward,” Rodenberger said.
